Enrique Martínez Celaya
The Mirroring Land
In his first solo exhibition at Galerie Judin, Enrique Martínez Celaya presented large-scale paintings of snow-covered fields crisscrossed by dark creeks or deep furrows, curving paths through lush poppy fields at dusk, or barren trees that stand their ground against the ocean. In their scenic mysteriousness, these works display thematic references to German Romanticism. The linen-bound exhibition catalogue documents this unapologetic homage to German art and cultural history and is accompanied by texts by Annette Dorgerloh and Pay Matthis Karstens.
